On July 21st I went on board of the smack Emily Florence for the purpose of procuring a supply of water. Whilst so engaged the deck hand of my ship was at the tiller and disregarding the orders of the mate. Caused the Lilian Maud to sheer alongside of the Emily Florence. hereby crushing the boat belonging to smack Rachael Anne. The mate having told him to port his helm which he refused to do.
