I hereby certify that J Spencer who shipped as cook on December 12th 1902 has laid in his bunk under the plea of illness from Sunday 14 December 1902 until our arrival at port on 25th December 1902. I asked him daily how he was & each time he informed me that he was getting worse. On Wednesday 24th he had been all right. He then admitted that gross idleness had been the cause of his remaining in his bunk whilst his work had to be done by myself & other members of the crew.
