2.30am 28/10/03 North Sea. Serious damage to plates, bulwark & rail on our starboard side & mast & part of bridge carried away. Collision with sailing ship name & nationality unknown. We had our fishing gear down at the time.

W C West my 2nd hand who is herein reported as having deserted at sea on 28th October by jumping onboard the barque with which we were in collision on that date, was subsequently landed in safety by that vessel at Gravesend about 9 days later, after which he returned to his home in Hull by rail.
