Official Log. September 1st. I Robert Hairsine skipper, my boatswain Albert Carr attempting to strike the 3rd hand Harry Beeton also the deck hand Thomas Moor and for using bad language to the mate Arthur Reed. Stood it as long as I could , I told him to stop with his language, he started also to curse me, told me that I was a bully and I starved the crew, that I was a liar I had not ordered the food that I told them I had. Finally he challenged me to a fight. I ordered him down the forecastle, the crew and myself had to do his work, since none of us could stand his tongue. We would sooner do his work than hear his cursing. I told the boatswain when we arrived in the Humber that I shall want him at the Board of Trade as soon as possible. He remarked something not fit to put in writing about the Board of trade and challenged me again to come to the bridge to fight him.
