Official Log. On February 12th 1905 at 9.30am, when 15 miles from Reykjanes Light Iceland, we sighted a boat on our port bow showing signals of distress. Bearing down we found her to contain 6 of the crew ( including her skipper ) of the steam trawler Brough of Hull in their own boat, and we rescued them. The boat was half full of water, leaking badly & only one oar being left, was unmanageable. Her skipper stated his ship was ashore near Rekjanes, that 8 of them had escaped in the boat, but that subsequently two ( the mate, boatswain ) had been washed out of her and drowned. I transferred all but the skipper to the Trawler Imperialist which conveyed them and the boat to Hull. I searched the coast for the stranded vessel, but could only find a small quantity of wreckage. I subsequently ( on the 15th February ) when it was clearer weather, put the skipper ashore at Reykjavik.
