J Gabrielsson - 3rd hand was called out at 2am on the 5th May to land the fish, he turned out and had something to eat along with the others and he then went and turned in forward. He was again called by the skipper at 2.30 but could make no impression on him, and he did not turn out to work. A substitute had to be engaged from the shore to do his work and 10/- was paid for same. H H Smith spare hand was ordered to return to the vessel on the 4th May at 11pm (after having shore leave) but did not return until 5am this morning the 5th May. Considerable difficulty was experienced in finding a substitute and much delay took place, and when one was found he had to be paid 10/- for the work.
