May 23rd North sea. Collided with Norwegian barque which sank. Cause unknown.

Official Log. On May 23rd during our voyage from the North Sea to London, we collided with the Norwegian Barque [ Hast?] . The collision occured at midnight , the barque sank and one man was drowned and another died. The weather was fine and clear the mate in charge of the watch cannot say the cause of collision.
