Official Log.
October 12 1911 Left St Andrews Dock for the North Sea at 8.30am. After leaving the dock the mate asked to go off the bridge at Paull, I sent for him again at the Horne Buoy and the reply was "Let him keep the wheel" it was still very hazy, shortly after this the deck hand comes and says the mate is fighting , But I could not leave the bridge to stop it, when I got to Spurn Light Ship I stopped the ship to see , when I asked the mate he insulted me and also struck, but he came round after. On taking his first watch he halted my ship course and also left the bridge and went to sleep in the galley.
