Looking down the engine room after tea 18 September 1911 & saw the chief engineer asleep, trimmer minding engines, I call the mate off the bridge & showed him what I had seen, then I went down the stokehold , drew the trimmers attention to it, and he admitted the chief was asleep. I remained down the engine room, then the 3rd hand made a noise & woke the chief up (I being down the engine room all the time). I told the chief about being asleep & he would not admit it was so. This is to certify that no further proceedings were taken against J Atkin.
