Memoranda by Skipper.
We left St Andrews dock June 15 1885 & brought up in Grimsby Roads , with engine broken down. We remained two days getting it repaired & proceeded to sea on 17th June at 8am. July 20 laying astern of the Onward Great Northern boom on the starboard side. The smack British Queen ahead of us starboard his helm causing his vessel to come up in the wind and run astern his port quarter. Coming in contact with our starboard bow.No damage.
Record of Casualty.
February 26 1885. Dogger Bank Spurn bearing WSW 70 miles. carried away our bowsprit. Laying astern of the cutter boarding fish at the time, and smack Day Spring dropped alongside carrying our bowsprit away. April 28 1885 Horn Reef. Split sail & carried away mizen ( sail ). Towing our gear the Grimsby smack Jacob Kremer GY87774 with his gear alongside ran into our stern doing the above mentioned damage.
