Memoranda by Skipper.
25th November whilst fishing 100 miles WSW of Spurn about half past five Friday night. Whilst engaged getting the gear ready we missed the deck hand, he must have been reaching for the line and over balanced himself and fell into the sea. We at once hove the vessel about and the boat got ready but the night being so dark and stormy we could not see anything of himwe at once made sail for home.
Record of Death or Injury. James Smith drowned. November 25th 5.30 pm North sea. Whilst reaching for the cant line he accidentally slipped & fell overboard & was drowned.
