March 21st.This is to certify that George Green now filling the place of 3rd Hand on board this smack Santa Naria and being incompetent. I told him I would reduce his wages when he swore and said B. the log book and that I would not reduce his wages. After reading what I had wrote down to him we had fish on deck and the gear down and I told him to go on deck and get on with his work and he refused. He said he was not going to do any more work so we had to break our voyage and go home. When I told him he could be punished for this he said that he could not. Reported to the superintendent mercantile marine Hull September 22nd. Referred to the magistrates on the 23rd. Sentenced to 14 days imprisonment and two days pay.
