On the night of the 11th June about 9pm we were fishing with our net down and our bright light burning, when another fishing smack came sailing along and ran into us, they had no lights up and were sailing on the starboard tack and the other smack was sailing on the port tack. The bowsprit was carried away. We were not able to see what smack it was as it was dark with rain & wind. I did not show a flare as we were with the Great Northern Fleet and all the fleet were about putting the net down and I expected he was coming to speak to us.
