Memoranda by Skipper.

On the 9th February 1889 we sighted a brig flying the flag of distress. We launched our boat & went alongside of her the captain requested that we take them off as his vessel was leaking very bad. We took the crew off & at once set sail for Hull. As soon as we got the brigs crew safely on board , we noticed a steamer going towards her, as if to speak to her. But in trying to do so ran into the Brig & sunk it.
