27 October 1890 1am North Sea. William Mortimer 3rd hand apprentice. The crew were holding on to the warp when a heavy sea took it out of their hands, the shackle striking Mortimer on the left calf. He is now at home under medical treatment for the accident which occasioned a heavy bruise.
