These notes are the result of a request at the 100th meeting of the Hull Jubilee Probus Club to explain the foundations of the Probus Movement. The Probus Movement began in Feb 1966 at Caterham, Surrey. Its founder was Harold Blanchard who is pictured within these notes. The Hull Jubilee Probus club was founded in 1977, Queen Elizabeth II 's Silver Jubilee year. Today there are more than 500 Probus Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland. Others have been formed in Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Each club is a separate entity with its own rules and programme. A Probus Information Centre exists and maintains a website to this day.
