Fourth minute book of the Hull Philharmonic Society, signed. Contains minutes of AGMs, Special Meetings, and meetings of the Executive Committee and Ladies Committee. Mr W.E. Hare followed by Mr Townsley and followed by Mr L. Rosen as Chairmen in this period. Business relates to the election of Officers and Committee Members, arrangement of orchestra practice dates, arrangement of concert dates and programmes of music, engagement of vocalists to sing at concerts. Minutes originally contained in ringbinder file, on inside front cover of file the following was written: 'Mr Sidney Biggs died 21.10.1946, Miss E. Coward died 21.10.1946, F.W.Emery died 10.12.1947, Mrs F. Bacon died 15.12.1947, Mr Frank Ferraby died 21.4.1948, Mr Norman Dixon died 30.3.1949'. Note: The minutes cease after Sep 1939 and resume 29 May 1945 reflecting a period of inactivity during WWII. Note also that there is a further gap in the minutes between meetings held 31 Mar 1950 and 19 Jul 1960.

iii) Letter from H.R. Roach as Headmaster of Hymers College, Hull, to Mr Calmen Rosen resigning from Committee of the Society, signed, 17 Sep 1965 (1 paper) [between minutes of meetings held 4 Aug 1965 and 4 Oct 1965]
iv) Letter from Col. R. A Alec-Smith as President of the Society to Dr Lionel Rosen as Chairman of the Executive Committee resigning his presidency after 10 years, signed, 8 Jul 1969 (1 paper) [between minutes of meetings held 7 May 1969 and 15 Jul 1969]
