Tony Hickson elected Chairman following resignation of Mr Carl Rosen; Good response to Chairman's request for ideas; Get-together's following concerts introduced and to continue; 15% discount on season ticket prices in coming season; Meredith Davies, Richard Hickox and Nicholas Smith to return as guest conductors; Twenty First Sponsored Concert featured the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Norman Del Mar with Carl Pini; Sponsored Concert was sponsored by Lady Strickland-Constable; Jack Brymer, Colin Horsley, and Lydia Artymiw to be soloists in the coming season; Saturday concert to be given trial in the coming season; Twenty Second Sponsored Concert to feature Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra; Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to be presented by the Society in conjunction with Leisure Services Department; Acquisition of new bass drum from money donated by the family of late Jean Slack; Resignation of Malcolm Charlesworth as Orchestra Secretary and member of the Orchestra; Deaths of Vice-Presidents Mrs B. Pearlman and Mr E.W. Fraser, and of Freda Bell, Nora Christie, and Mary Martin; Appointment of former President Colonel Rupert Alec-Smith as Lord Lieutenant for the County; Centenary looming.
