Dates:
26 May 1989-1 Feb 1994
Description:
The Francis Reckitt House on the Newland estate was used as a boarding facility by pupils from the Hull Trinity House School for a period of 5 years. The venture was a partnership between the Society, Humberside Education Authority and Hull Trinity House School. The decision was made to cease the provision at the end of the summer term in July 1994 due to the withdrawal of Humberside Education Authority funding and the cost implications of the regulations introduced by the Children's Act, 1989 relating to school aged children and young people living away from home. The boys, about 14 in total, were cared for 4 nights a week by a couple known as 'Trinity Houseparents' and travelled to school by bus everyday. This bundle includes details about the preparation of the Francis Reckitt home to accomodate Hull Trinity House School boarders, general policy and boarding procedures, routines, rules and regulations, correspondence between the Society, Humberside Eduaction Authority and Hull Trinity House School, information relating to the resident boys, the financial arrangements made and to the winding up of the arrangement in 1994
