- This file includes correspondence between the General Secretary of the Sailor's Children's Society, C.G.R. Streatfield James, and the Rev. Roy. C. Allison (Captain Allison's son) after the death of Captain Allison on 24 Nov 1985. The file includes biographical detail written by Captain Allison himself as well as the order of service for his funeral and that of his wife, Doris Mary Allison (1900-1985). It also includes press cuttings relating to his death and photographs of Captain Allison, his wife and of Captain Allison as an orphan. There is also a letter from the Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother (The Society's Patron) expressing sorrow on hearing of his death. Captain Allison and his younger sister were placed in the care of the Port of Hull Society in Sep 1912 after his Father's ship was lost with all hands just before Christmas 1911. He was elected to the Board of Management of the Sailor's Children's Society in 1953 becoming Chairman in 1973 and finally Hon. Director in 1978. He was awarded the MBE in 1980.
