Description:
This bundle includes a speech read by the Lord Mayor of Hull at a luncheon in the Lord Mayor's Parlour on 1 Dec 1950 and related correspondence. There is also an order of service for the service of thanksgiving held on 14 Dec 1950 at Holy Trinity Church, Hull and related correspondence. Interestingly there is a summary list of towns and villages from which children at Newland have come included in this bundle. It was sent to Lord Middleton, the Lord Lieutenant for Kingston upon Hull and the East Riding. In addition there is correspondence generated by the change of name sub-committee that was formed specifically for this purpose with suggestions of alternative names put forward as early as 1946.
