- This file includes correspondence and minutes of the post-war planning sub-committee that was set up by the Society with Col. A.J. Downs as Chairman. Between 28 Mar 1944 & 11 Jan 1945 eighteen meetings of this committee took place. They made recommendations about what should happen after the cessation of hostilities about how the homes could be run in the future. Amongst the file is a list of the advantages and disadvantages of the Children returning to Newland from Pateley Bridge where they had been evacuated to during the Second World War. There are also a series of newspaper cuttings relating to the care of children nationally. Former Society file ref: E31-1-14
