Port of Hull Merchant Navy House Ltd was incorporated in Aug 1966 as a company limited by guarantee and not having share capital. Their registered office was the Sailors' Children's Society, Cottingham Road, Hull. The Company's objectives included providing seafarers with residential or non-residential clubs or other centres of recreation, providing financial or other assistance for widows and children or dependants of seafarers and granting pensions to employees and ex-employees or ex-officers of the Association and their widows, children and dependants. They established a 'Merchant Navy Hotel' on North Street, Goole. The company ceased trading from the 31 Dec 1971. All of its assets were handed to the Sailors' Children's Society as some return for the initial expense that was incurred by that body when Merchant Navy House was set up. The charity was removed from the Companies Register in 1973 and was eventually removed from the Central Register of Charities in January 1974.
