- Description:
Index of the Muster Rolls arranged alphabetically by ship name. Entries record the name of the ship, the tonnage of the ship, the ship master's name, and the port sailed from. These entries are then followed by recordings of the dates of payments made in relation to each ship under the heading 'Time p[ai]d. to', and provide the volume and page numbers for each payment recorded.
Note: On reverse of inside cover is written 'All entries under marked thus [red line] are presumed to have been payments made at Goole to and are unaccounted for by C.H. Bedell the Receiver at that Port, previous to his absconding 15th April 1947, so far as they could be ascertained by examination of the imperfect Books left behind him'. Manuscript.
Enclosures:
i) Declaration by Mr John Howell of the Borough of Kingston upon Hull, Labourer, attesting that he is the father of Thomas Howell 'the late Owner of the Sloop or Vessel called the "Friends"', that Thomas was Master of the vessel for seven years, that Thomas left Hull about three weeks ago after selling the vessel, that Thomas' last voyage in the vessel was 1836, and that since then Thomas has been trading in the Humber, Ouse and Trent. Declaration taken and signed in the presence of Edward Bell on 28 Jun 1841. Manuscript, signed, 28 Jun 1841 (1 paper)
ii) Letter from Edward Hamilton, owner of the sloop 'John & Ellen', to the Honourable Gentlemen Members of the Trinity House Hull, declaring that the vessel has not been to sea since it was registered on 19 Aug 1848 to Sep 1851, and that during this time it has been employed in the River Humber. Manuscript, signed, 22 Nov 1851 (1 paper)
iii) List naming the Master, crew, and apprentices on board the ship 'Favorite'; Also rough workings of moneys owed in relation to master, masters mate and other crew members , n.d. (3 papers)
