File relating to Transport for Civil Defence. This file includes correspondence concerning the acquisition of vehicles (including ex-military vehicles) for conversion into ambulances and other service vehicles. It also refers to several Home Security Circulars and includes correspondence regarding government owned vehicles on loan to Local Authorities, accidents involving Civil Defence vehicles, the disposal of surplus Civil Defence Vehicles, the retention of vehicles for post-war purposes and a list of vehicles bought for Civil Defence. Information such as purchase price, buyer/seller names, registration numbers, chassis and engine numbers, make and year of vehicle is sometimes provided. Most of this correspondence is between the Town Clerk, the Casualty Services and Hull Corporation Health Department.
