File relating to the publication of 'A North East Coast Town' by T. Geraghty, formerly Assistant Editor of the Hull Daily Mail. This was a civil defence publication that Mr. Geraghty prepared on behalf of Hull Corporation as a tribute to the Hull Civil Defence Services.
Includes copies of similar publications by the City of Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Gloucester, a copy of Sissons' Brothers &Co., Ltd 'War Time Story' and abridged version of the same. Also includes letters relating to the dispersal of copies of the finished book to named individuals and businesses Jun 1950-Mar 1953. Letters suggesting proposed corrections, appropriate wording for the book's forword and the book's titleare included in the file. There is also correspondence relating to the delay in publishing the book due to the difficulty of obtaining paper for the publication from the Ministry of Supply, 1945-1948. An original letter from Mrs Olive Geraghty in May 1949 regarding her husband's illhealth helps to further explain the publication's delay. The receipt of this letter was minuted on 7 Jun 1949 in the Air Raid Precautions (Special Committee).
