Cards used to manage personnel firewatching, normally at their own place of work, under the 'Fire prevention (Business Premises) Order 1941 (no. 2)'. This order required businesses to organise their own firewatching schemes for their premises. These schemes had to be agreed to by the local authority.

There are four subseries:

C TYR/1 Business premises requiring fire watching

C TYR/2 Fire Watchers (Business Premises) personnel cards

C TYR/3 Fire Watchers (Business Premises) personnel cards - Hull Co-operative Society

C TYR/4 Fire Watchers (Business Premises) personnel cards - Hull Corporation
