Index cards organised alphabetically by surname recording the name, address and which service they were in. Also gives the length of service and the date this was certified. Members of the Civil Defence Service had to have their length of service certified in order to apply for the Civil Defence Medal. See also C TYW/1/1/50-51. The top right hand corner of the cards gives the abbreviation of the department dealing with the certification:
