- Description:
Recalls going down to the shelter everytime the sirens sounded. One night the top of her street was hit and they had to go to another shelter and she saw 'the sky was lit up and bombs were dropping'.
After the All Clear she returned to her house and could see nothing but soot everywhere and found that a bomb had come through the roof and set the bed on fire. The Wardens had to come in and put the fire out. In the morning she found lots of shrapnel and pieces of mine. Her father was out all night as he was a Warden and the street was on fire for several days with lots of fireman helping to put it out.
