- Recalls sleeping through one night of the blitz in May 1941 and also being awaken one night in a shelter by other people screaming. When she went to her house it was covered in soot so she packed some clothes and went to her grandmothers. She says that two bombs hit Bean Street and that it took a long time to repair the road.
