Description:

Recalls being in bed during the first blitz but rushed to the shelter when her mother heard a plane overhead and how a bomb hit her friend's house killing 14 people.

She says that it was terrible, but that she helped her parents wherever she could. The next night was just as bad with the avenue [when she lived] being hit by two high explosive and seven firebombs. Several nights later Mrs Firman's [a neighbour] house was hit and caught fire 'we are all terribly frightened'.
