Reference No:

Dates:
9 Feb 1942
Description:

Recalls having to look after 5 children as she was the eldest including getting them to the shelter. How one night they had to get under the bed when the mines fell in Regent Street. She remembers leaving the shelter after the All Clear and found they couldn't live in the house because 'all our windows were out and the house full of soot'. So they went to her aunt for meals.

She also remembers being in bed when the mine fell on Bean Street and how the Wardens burst the door down and carried everybody to the sheter. People there gave them some tea and cakes. A bomb fell into the next street and caused a big fire.
