Tickell's 'History' was published in parts by subscription. The cost to subscribers was 1/- for each part; whereas non-subscribers had to pay 1/6d. Subscribers could pay 1/6d to have copies printed on Royal paper. The parts were issued in blue paper wrappers. In all, there were 940 pages with 18 engraved plates, dated between 1789 and 1796. The last, Gale's frontispiece view of Hull from the south-east was published on 10th June 1796. There was some delay in the publication of the latter parts.
