Includes entries regarding a notice dismissing the volunteer tramway drivers and conductors by the Labour Council when the strike of the transport workers' threatened the work of the inhabitants of Hull (p.20), a number of entries regarding Italy, particularly Mussolini's invasion of Abyssinia (p.34), and one entry describes the excitement that followed the delivery of a gramophone by Mr. Hooten to Mrs. Kemp, Thorp's housekeeper, for her to test before deciding whether to keep it (p.205-206)
