- Dates:
- 1820-1821
- Description:
Proceedings of the petition in manuscript form. The petition was brought by Richard Bower, John Firth, William Gux Bower and Abraham Burstall against John Baillie, candidate in the election. They attested that Baillie used 'illegal and corrupt practices' to secure his return to Parliament and wished the House to declare the Election and Return of John Baillee void. Following the Proceedings in February 1821 Lord Viscount Althorp Chair of the Committee determined that John Baillie was 'duly elected a burgess to serve in the present Parliament for the Borough of Hedon'. Includes a copy of The Poll At The Election of Representatives in Parliament, for the Borough of Hedon [8 March 1820] detailing voters names, residences and occupation.
