Description:

The Third Brigade of Volunteers, which included the Volunteer Infantry Corps of Beverley, Bridlington, Hull, Pocklington, Pontefract, Ripon, Selby, Tadcaster, Thorne, Wakefield, York etc. appears to have been a temporary force raised in connection with the Volunteer Acts of 1802 and 1804 to meet the threat of Napoleonic invasion. The Third Brigade was under the command of Brigadier General J Hodgson.
