News of Mrs Baines and the family. Advice not to sell the New Zealand property at present and lease it for a few years instead. Mount Eden claims have struck a very rich lode. Suggests some help Mr Baines can give over financial affairs with Fooks' family in England. Confirms that a cabin has been engaged on a fine ship the Percy and a domestic help has been obtained.
