- Charles's regiment has been ordered to the West Indies, to Barbados. Writes that there is a great chance of him getting his Company. Describes the journey to his current location. Writes that one of his rooms is haunted by a ghost. Asserts that if Isabella found herself in Newfoundland she would not last five minutes as the dogs are in abundance, and she would find herself very frightened.
