All services and customs from any land they might have from an assart in Newland ('Nova Terra') or elsewhere in the soke of Drax: This quitclaim not to prejudice J.P. or his heirs in respect of the old bovates which his villeins ('nativii') held of him in the said soke. Rendering 4d. yearly for each acre of the assart, and doing suit of court at Drax every 3 weeks, for all customs and demands saving relief. R. & L. not to make over any of the land in alms to the religious, nor to mortgage it ('in judaismo inpingnorare') or lease it, or do anything whereby J.P. or his heirs might be injured. Witn. Sir John de Bella Aqua, Sir Thomas de Houk, Robert de Berley, William de Polintone, Thomas de Meteham, William de Middeltone, John de Rednes, Walter de Faleyse, Adam Marscallo, Walter son of Silvester. 3 weeks from Easter 56 Henry son of John.
