Reciting:

(i) A Petition in Chancery of Richard Herbert (12 June 1663), that a writ of de ideota inquirendo was issued at the suite of George Blanchard, Rowland Herbert and George Shires for a commission to enquire into the idiocy of Richard Herbert; that a jury of 'neighbours and clyents' of George Blanchard sitting on 30 May 1663 found him to have been an idiot since 10 March 1657/8; that he was not present at such a sitting; and that he might now be inspected by the Lord Chancellor to decide his mental state.

(ii) That having heard both sides and inspected Richard Herbert, the Lord Chancellor was satisfied that he was no idiot, and ordered stay of process on the matter.

The parties are hereby ordered to stay all proceedings in the matter. Portrait Chas. II.
