- Thanks for letter. Glad to find Sir John 'in life and cheerfulness' despite difficulties. 'The Lincolnshire Blades have carried themselves with great resolution' and many will be as little daunted as they. 'Yet what discouragements do those revolting Lords indeaver to bring upon honest men' voting as they do and then deserting them. But some noble Lords will live and die doing their duty. The Commons 'are more intire than ever' and the City continues full of affection to the Parliament. If there be 'the least stoppe' of Sir John's money he is to let Hampden know at once. The orders Sir John sent could not be propounded this morning, and Hampden is doubtful of the one for malicious opposition of Parliament, because it is in the nature of a warrant dormant 'but send up the names of some of such and their faults and shall hear of us quickly'. 'We believe the Danish fleete is to fetch salt'.
