Description:
Gray and black patterned album relating to the opening and early years of Fareham Flying Angel Club, and containing photographs, press cuttings, printed material etc. Includes references to opening of building on 31 May 1944, activities of MtS in Fareham at the close of the war, and the stationing of the Royal Netherlands Navy onboard the HMS Collingwood at Fareham. The album contains the following black and white photographs: exterior view of the building; interior view of the opening ceremony with Admiral Sir Charles Little standing; interior view of the dining hall containing dining tables, chairs, and a serving counter; interior view of a room containing a piano, tables and chairs; interior view of a chapel containing an altar and empty rows of seats; a woman and a man stood outside in front of a door; of interior view of a games room containing billiard tables, chairs and tables; two young men in naval uniform; four ladies stood outside the building; group of two ladies and five men stood outside the building entrance; three men stood outside the building; group of men [crew of a ship?] stood outside in the snow; various photographs of ships crews outside; couple in wedding outfits in front of the building entrance; group of men and women sat and stood around two pianos, a drum and brass instruments; Jimmy Rankin; bride, groom, page boy and two bridesmaids; chapel onboard the HMS Collingwood; Commander Jurgens and the Royal Netherlands Navy in 1947.
