- Written over two days and partly whilst sat with friends. Discussed in some depth are Auden's poetry, quoting him extensively and referring to Stephen Spender; and John Layard's hypothesis on women and the unconscious. Also discussed are jazz; himself as split between mind and body; taking an examination in Anglo - Saxon literature; and a play he is trying to write. Letter is interspersed with descriptions of sunny days and the surroundings. (27pp.) Contains an illustration of what he thinks is Layard's main point about the difference between the male and female, and small illustrations of symbols to illustrate his discussion.
