Written over two days, it is a long description of the first day, sat in the Park, interspersed with news and discussion about his temporary job; his writing, making reference to Dylan Thomas; Auden; jazz; wishing Sutton a happy 21st birthday; what he has been reading, with particular reference to 'The Rainbow' (D. H. Lawrence); where other friends are stationed; and a poem he wrote, which he has typed out in the letter, beginning 'I hear you are at sea...'. (12pp). Contains an illustration of a girl's face.
