Comments on different birds nest's he has found over Easter and how they are arranged in his garden. Talks of trip to St James Park on Sunday afternoon and how the drakes (male ducks) are changing colour. Tells Ruskin he wished he could have heard his lecture on swallows, how to make the sound of a corncrake by drawing a comb across wood and how he wants to set up a society for the extermination of the sparrow.
