- The County Chief Constables' Conference was established in 1920 and provided an official voice for chief officers of County Forces. It was the conference which ultimately amalgamated with the Chief Constables' Association to form the ACPO in 1948, although provisions in the new Association's rules allowed the County Chief Constables' Conference to continue operating as a separate entity.
