Description:
The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland performed much the same functions as the ACPO did for chief officers in England, Wales and from the 1970s Northern Ireland and was open to membership from Chief Constables, Deputy Chief Constables and Assistant Chief Constables from the eight police forces in Scotland along with the Assistant Chief Constable of the British Transport Police in Scotland. The Association ceased to operate on April 1st 2013 following a merger of the eight Scottish police forces with the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, forming the single service Police Scotland
