Work for television by Alan Plater, about a car factory which is the major employer in a provincial town, the factory staff and the problems caused when the new owners want to introduce Japanese production methods. Contains the 'Bible' for 'The Works' TV series which includes the central idea (by Ken Loach), introduction (by Alan Plater), the setting, characters, style, feasibility study, continuing research, how a car is made, 'japanisation', scripts for Episodes 1 to 4 (by Vincent O'Connell, Jim Allen, Nick Perry and Alan Plater), and a list of the development team [Dec 1991]. There is also a second copy of the script for Episode 2 by Jim Allen (rewrite), notes on ideas for the 'bible' from Rona Munro (FAO Valerie Ryan), and a development schedule for Mar-Jul 1992.
