Description:
Peter Howes (b. 1911) studied for the Anglican ministry from 1929 at Kelham Theological College, and was made Deacon in 1934, Priest in 1935. From 1937 till his retirement in 1981, he was a missionary of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Sarawak. After serving in various offices in the diocese, he was made Assistant Bishop of Kuching in 1976 and served in that capacity till 1981. Dr Bruton was in touch with him during his field studies 1973-1977. Part of Bishop Howes's ministry was among the Bidayuh of the First Division of Sarawak, at Quop 1940- 1950 and Padawan 1956-1965
