Dates:
1990s-2010
Description:

This deposit of born-digital material represents much of the Socialist Health Association's activities between the late 1990s and 2010.

The activities of the Central Council are well-represented by the Minutes of the Central Council, Officers' Meetings and Annual General Meetings (2000-2010), as well as general administrative material and planning of future objectives. [U DSM5/1]

There is material relating to SHA finances, including accounts, invoice reports and expenditure totals, as well as various budgets. [U DSM5/2]

Concerning SHA membership there is material produced for circulation to current and potential members, including the recruitment of affiliated organisations. There are also annual membership figures giving breakdowns by branch etc. [U DSM5/3]

There is also material concerning individual branches of the SHA, which includes branch development and administration, branch responses to national reports and local meetings/conferences. [U DSM5/4]

There is material concerning the David Stark Murray Trust which supports the charitable activities of the SHA. There is a project plan and some financial information, but much of the material is currently closed under the Data Protection Act. [U DSM5/5]

There are a substantial number of reports and policies produced by the SHA. Many of these represent work done towards Labour Health Policy as well as responses to government initiatives and SHA-initiated campaigns. [U DSM5/6]

There is also significant material from conferences organised by the SHA, including agendas, conference notes and PowerPoint presentations from the conferences (please note that many of these are not currently available due to copyright restrictions). [U DSM5/7]

There are various publications as produced by the SHA including press releases on campaigns and news-worthy topics, articles and book reviews written by SHA members. There is also material relating to Socialism and Health (S&H), the newsletter produced by the SHA from 1970 onwards. There are copies of S&H as well as related material. There is some material produced by third parties, much of which is closed due to copyright restrictions. [U DSM/8/1-5]

The SHA website is also included (as it existed in early 2010), as well as files relating to its administration. We hope to make the website available in the future. [U DSM5/1/6, U DSM5/8/6]
